Govt's whole concern on prosperity, development: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government's all attention was focused on economic prosperity.

Addressing the 65th annual general meeting of the Nepal Chambers of Commerce (NCC), here today, PM Oli asserted that the government was committed to economic prosperity and development as the nation has completed the phase of political achievement.

He urged the support from the industrialists adding that the government was ready to do whatever was essential for the welfare of the people and industrialists. PM added that the nation faced devastating earthquake and unannounced border blockade and successfully resolved the problems surfaced by them.

PM Oli said the country could not remain under the line of poverty and crisis for long and asserted that the government was ready to do whatever was expected to reduce them.

He added that the government was working to solve the energy crisis and the Melamchi water project would be completed within a year.

Prime Minister Oli further informed that the upcoming policy and programme and the budget of the government would be innovative being concentrated to national development. He even asked for the suggestions from the entrepreneurs for the same.

Stating that there is no need to be in dilemma in regards to government policy, PM Oli said, "The government policy is that which is in line with the issues raised by industrialists and businessmen."

I am ready to handover a blank cheque, PM Oli said adding, "The industrialists and business fraternity should write what they want to write on it."

PM further elaborated, "The government wants what the business fraternity demands and desires. There should not be any doubt."

He said the government was adopting ideas to drive the country towards the phase of economic development.

At the programme, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel said the government was creating investment friendly environment by promoting the role of the private sectors. "Now we must not only focus on investment friendly but what type of investment friendly; we should have a clear viewpoint," Minister Paudel said adding, "The government is ready to facilitate."

The Finance Minister said the industrialists and businessmen will be provided Rs 10 billion Rehabilitation Fund and that industrial corridors with modern facilities will be built in all seven provinces.

He claimed that the country would be free from the prolonged energy crisis which will only remain as a memory in the history.

Industry Minister Som Prasad Pandey said the government has decided on building seven industrial corridors in seven provinces with each spread over 1,000 hectares of land property.

On the occasion, Commerce Minister Deepak Bohara said the country was now riveted on economic prosperity and ending unemployment in the backdrop of the successful conclusion of the political uprising.

The programme presided over by Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) Chairman Rajesh Kaji Shrestha saw screening of a documentary on the history of NCC. The volunteers who worked in rescue operation the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake were also felicitated.
