Grade XII exam conducted peacefully

The board exam of grade XII kicked off from today across the country.

The exam began from 7:00am for three hours. The examinees today sat for the Compulsory English paper.

Santosh Aryal, examination controller, Higher Secondary Education Board today said that the exam was conducted in peaceful and decent manner across the country.

However, the examinees today said that they faced difficulties due to around half-a-dozen errors in the question paper.

They said that they were in a dilemma while writing the answers of certain questions due to errors.

Aryal said, “There were a few minor errors in the question paper, which were immediately corrected through our toll-free audio notice board ‘1618016639002’.”

He said that they had two sets of questions (C and D) for the examinees in different parts of the country.

“The C set of questions had no errors while the D set had a few errors which were corrected for the convenience of students,” he added.

According to HSEB, every day, the Examination Conducting Committee opens the question paper half-an-hour before the beginning of the exam in the presence of the subject expert to check for errors in the question paper. Thus, if there is any mistake, they immediately correct those mistakes through their audio notice board.

A total of 369,426 students sat for the exam in 921 examination centres across the country.

The exam will end on May 13. HSEB said that least number of examinees (200) are appearing from Manang district while highest number of examinees (114,322) are appearing from Kathmandu district.

Aryal said a total of 33,953 human resources including 921 exam superintendents, 2,512 assistant superintendents, 1,921 observers, 13,430 invigilators, 1,641 staffers, 2,476 office assistants and 11,052 security personnel have been deployed for the exam.

Similarly, the office has also mobilised teams led by joint-secretaries from the Ministry of Education and HSEB to monitor the exam and maintain examination discipline as well as take action against who cheat in the exam.

The students of physical group will be appearing for the second exam on May 4.
