Grover resigns following employees’ pressure
Kathmandu, November 14:
Sales and marketing director of the Everest Hotel, Shailesh Grover, today resigned from his post following pressure from the employees.
General Manager of the hotel KBS Lamba confirmed Grover’s resignation, but refused to comment further.
Over 200 employees of the hotel had organised a signature campaign seeking ousting of three officials including Grover, accusing them of mismanagement.
One of the employees Arjun Pandey said the problem has been solved following Grover’s resignation.
“He has demanded three days’ time to leave the hotel,” Pandey said, adding that the management has been cooperating with the employees in their campaign to improve the hotel’s performance.
Central committee member of Hotel and Restaurant Workers Association, Pandey also said they have managed lodging, fooding and security for Grover for the next three days.
Pandey said the employees had sought Grover and other officials’ resignation because the hotel, under their management, could not attract expected number of customers even during the tourist season. “We are expecting resignation from finance controller Keshav Acharya as well. Acharya is on leave,” Pandey said, adding: “Salary has not been raised since six years, provident fund has not been deposited and the welfare fund has been misused.”
