Harvard University to help in Nepal's policy making

WASHINGTON DC: The world's renowned Harvard University is all set to partner Nepal's government bodies for policy making by taking the initiatives in the maximum use of statistics and verification instrument.

In a two-day seminar organised on Monday in the US, former Nepali Ambassador to the United States Dr Shanker Sharma was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that the University had been launching programmes related to policy making on the evidence-based statistics in South Asia and would take the initiative in use of investigative data on Nepal's sustainable development.

"Earlier, such programmes had been launched in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, which brought forth an exchange of experience from them. We too have informed them about our condition," Sharma said.

Sharma opined that the development works based on statistics would contribute towards the sustainable development in Nepal, where political instability continues to bring about government change too soon.

Joint Secretary at the International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division of the Ministry of Finance, Baikuntha Aryal, and Staff College's Trilochan Dhakal and Pukar Malla also participated in the seminar.
