Health academy on cards

Pokhara, December 30

Western Regional Hospital Pokhara is all set to become a health science academy after the Pokhara Health Science Academy Bill-2015 was passed at the Legislature Parliament on December 21.

The meeting at the Legislature Parliament had unanimously approved the Pokhara Health Science Academy-2015 bill.

Medical Superintendent Shree Krishna Shrestha said Lake City folks were elated over the development. “We can start classes within six months,” he said.

The cabinet had decided to transform the regional hospital into a health science academy and sent the bill to the parliament last year.

Dr Shrestha said the academy would be independent and start MD classes in the first phase.

More than 515 staff are working at the hospital.
