‘Health is foundation of prosperity’

Sunsari, September 9

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Upendra Yadav today said that prosperity was not possible without providing free health service to the public.

Speaking on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Minister Yadav held that the government had already incorporated free health service in its health policy.

“The government will set up a health post in every ward, a hospital in each local level and an academy of health sciences and a tertiary hospital in the provinces,” Yadav informed.

He further said that the government was planning to solve the problems confronting BPKIHS. “All should be committed to settling problems facing the institute,” Yadav added. He said the government was mulling over making BPKIHS a medical university.

At the programme, BPKIHS Vice-chancellor Guru Khanal stressed on completing the under-construction infrastructure of the institute. Khanal drew the minister’s attention to the need to fill  vacant posts at the institute at the earliest.
