KATHMANDU: Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa donated his first month’s salary to the oncology fund set up in Kanti Children’s Hospital, Maharajgunj.

The donation amount was handed over amid a programme in the hospital premises on Monday, said Minister’s secretariat.

Minister Thapa has decided to donate the salary to help treat the poor children suffering from cancer.

Established by the United Kingdom in 1997, the fund has a total of Rs 40 million at present.

A total of 584 children suffering from cancer received treatment last year while 45 new patients were also availed the treatment.
