Health workers march in support of Dr KC

BIRGUNJ/KATHMANDU: Health workers in Birgunj marched past the streets on Friday demanding the government to save Dr Govinda KC’s life.

The protesting health workers have asked the government to address the legitimate demands of Dr KC who is on a hunger strike for the past 14 days demanding reforms in the medical education sector.

A protest rally organised by Nepal Medical Association Narayani, Birgunj saw the participation of doctors and health professionals of Narayani Sub-regional Hospital who circled areas around the town holding placards.

According to former Chair of NMA Dr Niraj Singh, the protest was organised to ask the government to immediately fulfil Dr KC’s legitimate demands.

Singh also appealed the government to address Dr KC’s demands saying that a righteous state must save Dr KC who has been fighting for the state and its people.

Likewise, resident doctors of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) also halted their service at the hospital and provided free health check-up on the street as they continued their strike in support of Dr KC, at Maitighar Mandala, in Kathmandu, today.
