Health workers stage protest in Siraha
Siraha, December 16:
Nepal Health Personnel’s Union, Siraha, shut all the health institutions in the district, except their emergency service, from today, saying that the local administration failed to punish miscreants, who manhandled health personnel and vandalised health institutes.
The union at a meeting today said that as the local police administration, despite its assurances, has not fulfilled its demand, all the health institutions in the district will be
closed from today till December 19.
The emergency services will also be disrupted from December 20, if the administration did not book the miscreants till December 19, the union’s executive committee warned. The vandalism and manhandling occurred after kin of Rohit Kumar Yadav, 7, of Siraha-2, who died in the Siraha hospital on Thursday, vandalised health clinic of senior medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Raj Kumar Chaudhary, and his residence. They also manhandled health workers on duty at the same time.
Earlier, health personnel had closed all the health services, except emergency, in all the health institutions in the district on Friday and Saturday.
