Heavy rain inundates Bhimdattanagar

Incessant rainfall since last night has inundated many wards of Bhimdattanagar, including the bazaar area, in Kanchanpur.

Rainwater gushed into houses in the bazaar area.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bam at District Police Office, said some wards of Dhangadi sub-metropolis had also been affected by the continuous rainfall. DSP Bam said rainfall started at 2:00am.

He informed that no human causality had been reported till now. He said a police team had been deployed to the affected areas for rescue operation.  The water level in the Mahakali River has increased after rainfall in hilly areas.

The local administration has temporally halted vehicular movement on Sarada Barrage keeping in mind the increasing water level in the Mahakali River. Four-wheelers heading to India through Gaddachauki border point have been put off the road and passengers have been stranded.

According to DSP Bam, the water level in the river has crossed the danger mark. Water level has increased to 113,000 cusecs in the river.
