Jumla, February 23

The Gamgadhi-Nagma section of the Karnali highway remains obstructed for the past some one month due to accumulation of snow on some stretches of the road.

Although efforts were made to remove the snow by using bulldozer and open the road for traffic, this has not been possible due to latest spell of snowfall in the area a few days ago.

Chief District Officer of Mugu district Umakanta Adhikari said the efforts to open the road were hampered by the latest spell of snowfall.

Gamgadhi market is facing shortage of daily supplies due to road obstruction. There is shortage of cooking gas and other daily necessities in the district headquarters.

The Kalakadha road that links Khatyad rural municipality with the district road network is also obstructed due to snow deposition for the

past one month. Health posts in the municipality are facing  shortage of medicines.

The foot trail to the district headquarters from Khatyad through Rara and Jeude is also blocked due to snow. Around five feet thick snow has deposited on the road making movement of vehicles almost impossible.
