Birgunj, June 27:
Police today nabbed three persons along with illegal herbs worth Rs 10 million.
A team of police from the Parsa District Police office arrested the trio and seized five types of banned herbs, including Jatamasi, from a godown belonging to Aman Pipe Industries at Inaruwa Chowk of Birgunj Municipality-19.
The arrested have been identified as Indian nationals Sunil Kumar Singh and Binod Singh of Raxaul and Sinhasan Shah of Balirampur VDC-1 of Bara.
Acting on a tip-off, the police seized the herbs valued at more than Rs 10 million, inspector KP Sharma said, adding that the smugglers were using four porters to smuggle out the herbs to India through the Inaruwa check post. Indian security personnel also aided in the arrest, Sharma said.
It is learnt that the herbs were brought to Birgunj from himalayan districts.
