Hetauda, Kapilvastu in eye of the storm

HETAUDA: One person died while three others were injured in a storm in Makawanpur on Sunday. Bimala Pudasaini, 36,of Hatiya-4 died when she was trapped under a tree, police said. Krihan Sapkota of Aambhanjyang-2 of Solethum, Shiva Pudasaini of Hatia and Rohit Giri of Hetauda-21 were injured after a lightening had hit them. All the injured are undergoing treatment at Hetauda hospital.

Similarly, five year-old son of Rambalak Ram of Sukhachaina VDC-8, Bhawanipur was killed when he was crushed by the roof of his house on Sunday. Hundreds of houses were destroyed in the storm in the area. Ram Jeevan Shah, 45, and his son Ramesh, 12, of Birgunj-15 , were injured when the roof of the house fell upon them. Meanwhile, drivers of two Indian trucks Sanjaya Nagar and Sudhir Sharma were injured when the violent winds over turned their trucks. The injured are undergoing treatment at Narayani sub-regional hospital.

According to the District Police Office Bara, Amaladevi Ram, 45, of Hariharpur-3 was also killed in a storm today. Broadcasting of Sanskar FM of Kalaiya-4, have been halted after the storm damaged its' transmission tower. According to local Govinda Paudel, the storm flew away roof of hundreds of houses of Dahalpurwa.

Meanwhile, two persons were killed while thirteen others were injured in a storm in Kapilvastu today. The deceased have been identified as Kailash Barai, district member of UCPN-Maoists and Prabina Musalman, six-month-old daughter of Majila Musal-man of Sisuwa VDC-9. The injured are undergoing treatment at local health posts.
