High-value ayurvedic medicines in limbo
MYAGDI: The high-value ayurvedic medicine Shilajeet (Asphaltum), which is commonly found in rock mountain of Myagdi district, has not been excavated and explored in lack of technical knowledge and instruments and sheer ignorance on part of the concerned side.
Owing to negligence of the concerned side towards excavating and consuming Shilajeet as a medicine, loss worth millions of rupees is being incurred every year.
Sheelajit is found in several VDCs of Myagdi including Babiyachaur, Juamrukkot, Bhakimlo, Kuinemangale, Mudi, Mina, Takam, Marang and Bimal.
Locals have been disappointed for apathy from the sides concerned towards excavation of the high value ayurvedic medicine, said Shivaram Sharma of Jyamrukkot.
