HimRights’ call for security men’s release

HimRights Lifeline has called for the immediate release of eight security forces reportedly abducted by the Maoists. Three of the eight need immediate medical attention. According to HimRights, the human rights cell of RNA urged the body to make efforts to secure the security personnel’s immediate release. Following an encounter between the forces and Maoists in Bandipur, three RNA soldiers and five policemen were ‘abducted’ by the Maoists, said HimRights in its statement. They were taken to Surangakhim in Taplejung. HimRights has also called for the immediate and unconditional release of 42-year-old Rishi Ram Sapkota reportedly under forces’ detention. Security forces in civil clothes are said to have arrested Sapkota of Aappipal, Gorkha district, and living in Machhapokhari, Balaju, Kathmandu on May 19 at 3 am from his residence.
