Hostility with Pakistan prompts India to tighten security at Nepal border

BIRGUNJ: India has ramped up security measure at the no-man's land and transit points along the Nepal-India border here following its increasing hostilities with Pakistan.

Indian security personnel have tightened security checks at the transit points as well as increased surveillance at the border areas suspecting the infiltration of criminal groups into India from Nepal taking advantage of the open border.

Security has been beefed up at transit points incluidng Aadapur, Ghodadana and Ghodasahaya along the Nepal-India border in Bara district. Similarly, the movement of four-wheelers through these transit points has been banned. The Indian security personnel have also tightened security check on persons crossing the border.

All vehicles except ambulances and those carrying wedding attendants have been banned from moving through the border check points and other crossings along the no-man's land.

Moreover, security has been tightened at Raxaul-Vishwa, Parsauni-Bhelai, Sirsiya- Raxaul, Janakitol-Inaruwa, Thori and Bhiswa-Thori transit point along the Nepal-India border in Parsa district.

Although the high alert has been adopted at the transit points in view of security concerns, this would not affect the Nepal-India relations, according to the Indian security forces.
