Hotel workers on strike
Biratnagar, May 6:
Hotel workers of Biratnagar will launch an agitation today, stating that their 20-point demands, including 10 per cent hike in service charge, was not implemented even after two years of agreement.
In the first first stage of the protesr, the hotel workers have warned of shutting Biratnagar-based big hotels like Ratna, Namaskar, Swagatam, Eastern Star, Moon, Sagarmatha, Party Palace and Gitanjali if their demands were not implemented by May 11.
The 20-point demands agreed upon by hotel organisations including HAAN, All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ Organisation and Nepal Free Hotel Worker’s Union have been implemented in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Dhulikhel, Narayangarh and other cities but not in the big hotels of Biratnagar.
The agitation was launched issuing a joint release by ANHRWO coordinator Pyakurel, NFHWU district president and Joint Struggle Committee coordinator Arjun Rai.
