Kawasoti Municipality today handed over 27 houses that it had constructed for poor Majhi and Mushahar families in Nawalpur.

Deputy Mayor Prem Shankar Mardaniya of the municipality said the municipality had constructed 10 houses at ward no 7, three in ward no 11, four in ward no 12 and 10 in ward no 13 at a programme organised in Gauri today. Federal lawmaker Tilak Mahat handed over the houses.

Province lawmaker Roshan Bahadur Gaha, Mayor Chandra Kumari Pun, Deputy Mayor Mardaniya and Chief Administrative Officer Roshan Gyawali of the municipality, among others, were present at the programme.

Mardaniya said the houses were constructed after the municipality invested money under the Tarai Madhes Prosperity Residence for Poor of Nepal Government programme and 17 lakh rupees worth of labour donation.

The houses were constructed for the very poor families of municipal areas. The newly constructed concrete houses have two rooms with zinc sheet roof. The municipality had also constructed houses for poor families in ward no 15 and handed them over last year.
