Human skeleton found in Dhading village

Dhading, February 28:

Locals found a human skeleton at Syalechaur in Jeewanpur VDC-2 of Dhading district yesterday.

The skeleton, which was found buried in a public ground, is yet to be identified. The locals have urged rights organisations to take the initiative to unearth the skeleton and investigate the matter. A human skeleton and some scraps of clothes were found buried in the spot, a local journalist, Ra-mesh Prasad Acharya, said. The then Royal Nepalese Army personnel had made over 40 persons to disappear from Jeewanpur and Kewalpur of Dhading during the emergency period. Their whereabouts have not been made public till date.

The body of Sarala Sapkota of Jeewanpur-1, who was made to disappear by security forces, was found buried in Chautara of Kebalpur VDC over a year ago.

Separate teams of rights organisations, including National Human Rights Organisation, International Red Cross Committee and INSEC, inspected the site today. The disappeared persons’ families’ organisation-Dhading, saying the human remains could be of one of those spirited away by the state, has urged the rights bodies to probe the case.
