Hundreds of devotees arrive in Gosaikunda to observe Janai Purnima

RASUWA: A large number of pilgrims are in Gosaikunda for Janai Purnima festival, which falls on Sunday.

Chairman of Gosaikunda Area Development Committee Sanjeev DM said 2,000 visitors had already arrived in Gosaikunda till Thursday evening and they were expecting more visitors to the area on the day of the festival.

The Gosaikunda Area Development Committee expects arrival of around 15,000 visitors for taking holy bath in the Gosaikunda Lake.

The devotees have come from Taplejung in the east to Kapilvastu in the west and the number visitors coming to the district is increasing.

Likewise, Chief District Officer of Rasuwa Krishna Poudel said security arrangements were in place for the festival and urged visitors to travel Gosaikunda without fear.

Representatives of Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal, students from Oxford University, Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Nepal Red Cross Society, Nepal Army personnel and some other social organisations have been deployed to manage food and accommodation for pilgrims.

President of Nepal Red Cross Society, Rasuwa, Babulal Tamang said volunteers had been deployed to provide emergency medical support to pilgrims visiting Gosaikunda during Janai Purnima festival.
