SIRAHA: Infuriated for not getting money to buy meat, a 45-year-old man of Karjanha Municipality-2 murdered his 40-year-old wife with an axe in Siraha district, on Wednesday.

According to Siraha District Police Office spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Apilraj Bohara, the couple -- Rambabu Paswan and his wife Kavita Paswan -- had a heated argument over money to buy meat, after which Rambabu attacked his wife with the sharp-edged weapon, leaving her with multiple bruises on her head and neck.

Kavita was rushed to Mahato Memorial Hospital, Karjanha for treatment where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

A search is underway for the accused who is absconding and further details are yet to be released, informed DSP Bohara.

The couple, who earned their living by doing labour works and collecting firewood from the forest, have three daughters and a son.
