Imitating ‘People’s war’ cannot herald new governance structure: Dahal to Chand

POKHARA: Speaking at a press meet in Pokhara on Monday, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal remarked that the activities carried out by Chand-led communist party were imitation of ‘people’s war’ model and they cannot usher in a new governance system.

“I know him (Netra Bikram Chand) very well and have schooled him,” Dahal said, “I want to remind him that there is no alternative to joining mainstream politics. He cannot follow the then Maoists’ approach as times have changed a lot since.”

The remarks came from Dahal following reports of Chand-led party using routes used by erstwhile Maoist guerrillas to bring in firearms to Nepal.

Warning the Chand-led party of government action against it, if it carries out acts of violence, Dahal said that the former should take peaceful measures and join mainstream politics.

On a different note, NCP (NCP) co-chair said the recent 11-point agreement between CK Raut and the government was as per norms and values of the constitution.
