Implement Working Journalists’ Act: NPU

DIPAYAL: Nepal Press Union’s far-west regional strategic gathering concluded in Dipayal on Monday, issuing a 22-point Dipayal declaration.

The declaration that comprises the whole gamut of journalism-related issues including its present status, requirements for its healthy development and the possible roles journalists could play in such development in the region, has also urged the government to implement the Working Journalists Act at the earliest.

The declaration has also proposed to hold various trainings, symposiums and workshops to develop the skills of journalists.

Today, addressing the inaugural session of the conclave, Nepal Press Union central chairperson Badri Sigdel underlined the need of organisational development of the union for development of the fraternity of Nepali journalists.

Further, identifying democratic norms and values as the basis of the Union, Sigdel urged the concerned journalists to carry out their job by respecting democratic norms and values.
