Maoists’ vehicles seized:
KATHMANDU: Security forces seized three buses, a pickup, a Mahendra jeep and three motorcycles used by the Maoists to block road at Khandekhola area of Kaski district during a search operation on Thursday. According to the Defence Ministry statement issued here on Saturday, the security forces also seized food items. The security forces defused an improvised explosive device and a socket bomb planted by the Maoists in number-3 bridge area of Bara district on Friday. Similarly, bombs placed at Lamaha-Dhansar section of the Mahendra Highway of Rautahat, Ghumti area of Kavrepalanchowk, Hariban and Murtiya area of Sarlahi and district administration office Dailekh were also defused. — RSS
APF seizes contraband:
KATHMANDU: A patrol of the Armed Police Force seized contraband worth Rs 1,149,300 from Jitpur, Bara, on Saturday. A press release issued by APF headquarters said the APF team seized the contraband while conducting a check in a truck (Na 1 Kha 1552). The APF team handed over the seized goods and the truck to the Birgunj revenue investigation office. — HNS
NMA elects new body:
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has elected a 13-member executive committee under the chairmanship of Dr Sudha Sharma. Dr Krishna Kumar Rai was elected senior vice-president, Dr Shyam Sundar Yadav the vice-president. — RSS
