VDC secy beaten up

Siraha: Nepal Students’ Union activists manhandled a village development committee secretary on the charge of defying their strike call on Tuesday. NC District Working Committee Siraha had called the strike demanding peace and security in the district. Secretary Ramudgar Yadav of Laxmipur village development committee was assaulted while he reportedly defied the strike and held the VDC’s official works. Secretary Yadav said as many as 12 Nepal Students’ Union activists thrashed him and seized documents. — HNS

Son kills father

TIKAPUR: Twenty-three-year-old Ram Bahadur Chaudhary of Bijaynagar Mukta Kamaiya Camp in Kailali murdered his father by attacking him with a bamboo stick on Monday. Sohan, 55, died in Tikapur Hospital on Tuesday morning, police said. According to a family source, Ram Bahadur attacked his father after an argument. Ram Bahadur has been absconding. — HNS
