Incessant rainfall obstructs far-west rural roads

Rural roads in the hilly districts of the far-west region were obstructed due to the incessant rainfalls.

Transportation service in Bajura, Bajhang and Achham districts has been obstructed due to incessant rainfall. The roads were obstructed due to landslides and the diversions were swept away by the flooded local rivers.

Khadak Raj Joshi, a staff at Betalmandau counter said that transportation was obstructed along the Sanphe-Martadi, Betalmandau-Martadi, Martadi-Kolti, Sera-Aantichaur, Martadi-Bhaunera, Betalmandau-Pudababalal road sections due to heavy rainfall.

Similarly, Sanphe-Payal, Sanphe-Budakot, Jayagadh-Nandegada, Sanphebagar-Mujabagar, Mangalsain-Binayak, Timalsain-Mujabagar road sections of Accham district were also obstructed.

According to District Development Committee Accham, vehicles plying along the road section from Mangalsain to Surkhet were obstructed.

Manoj Singh, a local, said that almost all road sections of rural areas of Bajhang were obstructed due to rainfall. Locals said hey faced problems after the concerned authority paid no attention to road improvement.

Meanwhile, the price for daily essentials has increased in the local markets due to obstruction of roads.

Local businessman Khadka Rokaya of Kolti said that prices had increased by more than 30 per cent in Kolti Bazaar. It is said that the price for daily use materials in Mujabagar, Kamalbazaar, Binayak and Darna, among other places had also increased.
