Indefinite bandh throws life out of gear in Tarai
LUMBINI: Daily public life has been hit hard in Rupandehi due to indefinite bandh called by the Tharuhat Struggle Committee in 22 districts of Tarai demanding a separate Tharuhat province.
As a result, market places, transportation services, educational institutions and factories remain completely shut.
The daily wage labourers have been severely affected.
Only police van, ambulance and vehicles carrying media persons and essentials like milk are seen plying on the road.
Many Nepalis returning home after work in neighbouring India have been left stranded.
Bandh enforcers have gathered in major points including Buddha chowk, Devkota chowk, Milan chowk of Bhairahawa since early morning to make the bandh successful.
No untoward incident has been reported so far, police said.
