Injured Bara CDO Bhattarai breathes his last

KATHMANDU: Chief District Officer Ganesh Bhattarai of Bara, who was at the treatment table at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu for critical accident injuries breathed his last today.

Bhattarai was airlifted to Kathmandu on January 26 after he sustained critical injuries in a Scorpio jeep accident near Parsaha bridge in Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City on the East-West Highway.

Armed Police Force SP Balaram Pokhrel had died in the incident while CDO Bhattarai, his two bodyguards and driver suffered injuries.

The Scorpio jeep had hit a parked tractor near Pasaha along the Pathlaiya-Nijgadh road section in Bara while returning from a picnic at Martyr Hiralal Memorial Park organised by Civil Servants’ Milan Centre Bara.

Meanwhile, CDO Bhattarai’s family have accused the driver of sheer negligence and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
