Int’l uro-surgery meet inaugurated

Kavre, November 20:

Crown Princess Himani inaugurated the International Uro-Surgery Conference at the Community Hospital in Dhulikhel of Kavre District, today.

Some 250 surgeons from Nepal, India, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands are participating in the three-day conference.

After the inauguration of the meet, Dhulikhel Hospital Director Dr Ramkantha Makaju Shrestha apprised the Crown Princess on various chambers and services of the hospital. Rajparishad Member and Former Mayor Bel Prasad Shrestha presented gifts to the Crown Princess on behalf of the people of Dhulikhel.

On the occasion, Minister for Education and Sports Radhakrishna Mainali said educational sector has made a great progress in supplying manpower in the past 10-12 years and the cooperation extended by the private sector for the extension of health services has been laudable.

Mainali said the health sector has been expensive for the poor, and it is quite difficult to get an expert service. It is unfortunate for the country that doctors are not reaching the needy, he added.

Dr Makaju Shrestha said the government is effortful in the modernisation of the health services, while the Chairman of the Nepal Made Holland Dr Yan Fan Gusbilegan called for modernisation of the health sector.

Similarly, KU Vice-chancellor Dr Suresh Raj Sharma and Chairman of the Nepal Urological Society Dr Itma also expressed their views.
