RAJBIRAJ, NOVEMBER 30

The internal dispute in the CPN-MC has escalated in Saptari of late. Things have worsened after the two rival factions of the party started holding separate meetings to choose their new leadership.

While one faction of the party is led by district Chairperson and former minister Umesh Kumar Yadav, central member and district in-charge Ashok Kumar Mandal is leading another group. Lately, both groups have been holding their own meetings and forming new committees.

In Rajbiraj, while the district chair and his group has formed a town committee led by Kedar Dev, district in-charge Mandal has formed this own town committee headed by Ramgaman Sah.

The Yadav-led group has also formed similar committees in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality, Tirahut Rural Municipality, Mahadeva Rural Municipality, Kanchanrup Municipality, Bishnupur Rural Municipality, Rajgadh Rural Municipality, Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality, Shambhunath Municipality, Khadak Municipality and Dakneshwori Municipality.

Mandal and his group have also separately formed committees in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality, Tirahut Rural Municipality, Mahadeva Rural Municipality, Kanchanrup Municipality, Bishnupur Rural Municipality, Rajgadh Rural Municipality, Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality, Balanbihul Rural Municipality, Rupani Rural Municipality and Shambhunath Municipality.

Both groups have described their committees as valid and official and the other side's committees as invalid and unofficial.

"As the committees we've formed from the village and town conventions in line with the party's central and provincial committees' decision, they are legitimate," he said, seeking action against Mandal for acting against the party.

Mandal, however, claimed the committees formed by his group were legitimate, saying they were formed as per the direction of the party's provincial and central policy and in the presence of the party's provincial officials.

In Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality, however, both factions have unanimously formed a new working committee led by Munilal Mukhiya.
