Int'l film city to be built in Dolakha

DOLAKHA: An international film city is to be built at Dangdungedanda of Bhimeshwor Municipality-9 in Dolakha district following a decision taken by the Council of Ministers.

The Cabinet had sent a written instruction to the Film Development Board under the Ministry of Information and Communications for the project launch.

The government said it would allow land property of 76.25 hectares for the project and removal of 104 trees. Following the nod from the Cabinet, the Department of Forest and the Film Development Board sealed an agreement on March 28.

Campaigner Madan Das Shrestha informed that the Forest Department had immediately written a letter to the Dolakha District Forest Office to implement the decision.

The film city being planned in the Dolakha district is the first of its kind in Nepal.

Dangdungedanda, which is located around 109 km east of Kathmandu, offers a panoramic view of a of surrounding areas including places as far as Kathmandu, Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok, Solukhumbu, Ramechhap and Okhaldhunga districts.
