Investigation sought into journalist Bhusal’s death

Kathmandu, December 21

The Education Journalists Group Nepal has demanded an investigation into the ‘suspicious’ death of a journalist Tirtha Raj Bhusal.

On November 30, Bhusal, the EJG working committee member and managing director of Nawalpur FM station, Nawalparasi met with a motorcycle accident at Daunne in Nawalpur, and died in the course of treatment at a health institution in Lalitpur on December 9.

The EJG also concluded that Bhusal’s death was suspicious under the circumstances that the vehicle that hit the motorcycle Bhusal was riding when the accident occurred has yet to be taken under control, the ill-fated motorcycle has not suffered any damage, and the pillion rider escaped the accident unhurt.

An EJG team including central Chairperson Dipak Dahal attended a condolence meeting organised today in the Capital on the 13th day of the demise and assured the deceased’s family that the EJG would initiate efforts to help bring the culprit(s) to book.
