Irrigation project finally completed

The Daltar-Bhaltar Irrigation Project has come into operation after protracted construction in Dhading.

Construction of the project located in Baireni had started around nine years ago. The recent completion of the project has elated farmers as around 3,740 ropani land belonging to 180 households will be irrigated.

“Though it took a long time, the project has finally come into operation and farmers have started planting paddy in their fields,” said Rajendra Prasad Adhikari, regional director of the Central Regional Irrigation Directorate.

Earlier, the project had been in limbo after Asian Development Bank, the body that had funded the project, halted its support. “The project was put on hold after ADB suddenly stopped its support. However, it was completed with government support. A budget of around 27.15 million rupees was spent on the project.
