Itahari bazaar tense after death of girl in mishap

Itahari, February 6:

Itahari bazaar remained tense today following the death of a school girl student in a mishap.

The truck, which was carrying crushed stones to Itahari, hit to death 16-year-old Anjana Rai, a 10th grader at the Itahari-based Pathibhara boarding school, on the Budhiknola bridge at 10:30 am. Another student of the school 17-year-old Neelam Dhungana was critically hurt in the incident. The students, relatives of the two students and locals staged protests in Itahari. The irate people, alleging that the truck deliberately hit the two students, torched the truck, said police.

The students obstructed traffic and forced the closure of shops at the main chowk in Itahari after police took away the body of the dead. Students vandalised six motorcycles on the charge of defying the bandh. The students demanded stern action against truck driver Bhagat Chaudhary, treatment to the injured and Rs 10 lakh to the bereaved family.
