It’s not good to tear preliminary draft of constitution: Minister Rijal

POKHARA: Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal said that it was not good to tear the copies of the preliminary draft of the constitution.

His remark comes at a time after five forces — Federal Socialist Forum led by Upendra Yadav, Sadbhawana Party led by Rajendra Mahato, Tarai Madhes Democratic Party led by Mahantha Thakur, Mahendra Raya Yadav-led Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party and Biswendra Paswan-led Bahujan Shakti Party Nepal — tore the draft of the constitution as soon as Constitution Drafting Committee chair Krishna Sitaula presented the preliminary draft at the full house yesterday, saying the document excluded names and boundaries of federal states.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the Press Union Kaski on Wednesday, Minister Rijal said that the constitution would be delivered within one month after taking suggestions of the people.

As the new constitution needs to be endorsed by two-third majority, he said that help of all the political parties is essential for the same.

“Nepali Congress is ready for the national consensus government. NC will not extend its tenure on any pretext,” Rijal said.

NC leader Dr Rijal, who is also the spokesperson of the government, informed that the national consensus government would be formed before the NC’s General Convention scheduled for August.
