PHIDIM: An inmate broke the Panchthar district prison this evening. Umesh Hingmang, who was kept in the prison for rape, managed to flee.

Jailer Renu Prasad Ojha said Hingmang took advantage as he was also given the responsibility of guarding the jail. ASI Hridaendra Yadav had accompanied him to the market today.

While returning from the Bazaar at 3 pm, he ran off by sending office assistant Loknath Dhungel to buy cigarette.

Eyewitness said Hingmang headed towards Pallotar. Police and jail administration are now exchanging blames for the loophole.

Jailer Ojha said ASI Yadav was responsible for the incident while DSP Homjung Chauhan said Ojha was to be blamed for sending the inmate out with only one security man.

Meanwhile, CDO Dulluraj Basnet held the jailor responsible for the incident. A police team has been mobilised to track down Hingmang.
