Phidim, August 26 :

Demanding their release, two inmates of the Panchthar jail, Bharat Poudel, of Thechambu-1, Taplejung, and Tarjan Khudad, of Subhnag-9, Panchthar, have been staging a fast-unto-death since yesterday, the jail administration said.

While Bharat was imprisoned during the king’s rule on the charge of killing five policemen during the Maoist-launched Gopetar Police Post attack in 2058 BS, Tarjan was jailed on the charge of setting a local’s house on fire.

“We will continue the fast-unto-death unless we are freed,” said Bharat. The two have also urged the authorities concerned to meet their six-point demand.
