JAJARKOT: Transportation on the Jajarkot-Dolpa road has been obstructed due to landslide triggered by heavy rainfall.

As a result, travellers are forced to walk to their destinations. Landslides have occurred in various sections of the Jajarkot-Dolpa road section.

Likewise, the road section at Khaharekhola, next to Shantichautara buspark, Thantibazaar, Simalgairi and other places have been blocked due to landslides.

Bheri Municipality had allocated funds from the disaster management fund to maintain and clear roads during monsoon. But since the Division Road Office in Chaurjahari, Rukum is overseeing the Khalanga and Khalanga-Paanchkatiya road, budget from the fund cannot be used for it, the municipality sources said.

Locals have demanded that the Division Road Office carry out works to bring back the road into operation immediately. Failure of Department of Roads to construct retaining wall along the roadside properly is inviting landslides in the road section, locals have said.
