Jajarkot hospital begins round-the-clock maternity service

JAJARKOT: A 24-hour emergency maternity service has been introduced at the Jajarkot District Hospital in Khalanga since Friday.

Lawmaker Shakti Bahadur Basnet officially inaugurated the service, putting an end to the expensive journey made by the pregnant women to the health institutions in other districts seeking the health services.

The doctors from Karnali Academy of Health Sciences will provide the maternity service at the hospital.

Lawmaker and CPN Maoist Centre leader Basnet stressed the need for extensive reform in the health services of the country. He appealed for support from all quarters in broadening the scope of the health services.

Noting the ongoing development works related to building the highways connecting Jajarkot to Tibet via Dolpa and the Jajarkot-Jumla-mid hill regions-Dang-Mugu highway, Basnet said the work for setting up lift irrigation system at Rimna and Kudu would start soon.
