Jajarkot landslip death toll rises to nine, one rescued alive
JAJARKOT: At least nine persons have lost their lives after a landslip at Thati Bazaar in the district swept away two houses this morning.
Meanwhile, a person has been rescued alive by a team of Nepal Army, Nepali Police and Armed Police Force personnel from the debris of the landslide.
27-year-old Lal Bahadur Luhar, a tenant in the swept house at Thati Bazaar in Bheri Municipality-3, was rescued while his wife Shitala Luhar (25), their daughters Ranjana Luhar (10), Manisha Luhar (6) and Bhagwati Luhar (3) were found dead. Likewise, the house owner Tirtha Raj Bohora’s 7-year-old daughter Najma Bohora was also killed by the landslip.
Similarly, Narindra Pariyar (13) and Nabin Pariyar (11) of Kushe Rural Municipality, residing in another house that was also swept, were also found dead along with Govinda Pariyar (8) and Dasarath Pariyar (10) of Nalgad Municipality.
Meanwhile, Luhar has sustained critical chest and head injuries and is undergoing treatment at Jajarkot Hospital.
