Jana Andolan hero, friend beaten up
Kavre, August 2 :
A resident of Banepa-5, Bikram Kapali, today accused the Maoists of thrashing him and his friend Rushab KC at a hotel near the Maoist liaison office in Banepa on Monday evening. Kapali was hit by a bullet on his face during Jana Andolan-II.
Kapali said the Maoists also took away his mobile phone set following the assault. According to Kapali, more than 10 Maoists had beaten him up.
Kapali, who is also a member of Broken Heart and Layeku Corner, was collecting money for facilitating the treatment of Mukesh Kayastha, who was beaten up during Jana Andolan-II.
A group of 10 persons, including Kapali and KC, went to a restaurant after collecting the money. There over 20 Maoist activists allegedly thrashed the duo. Chairman of the Maoist Democratic Forum (Kavre), Bishweshwor Banjara, has assured them that an investigation into the matter would be launched and the guilty punished.
However, Maoist Kavre-Sindhuli district secretary Laldhwoj said the Maoists had not beaten up Kapali and his friend.
