Janakpur ready to welcome Mukherjee

Preparations for Indian President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to Janakpur have been completed.

Keeping in view Mukherjee’s trip, security has been beefed up in the sacred city. Personnel of Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been put on alert from the airport to Murali Chowk, Janaki Temple, and other places.

Janakpur Sub-metropolis’ Executive Officer and Civic Felicitation Preparation Committee Coordinator Punya Prasad Luitel said preparations for civic felicitation and puja at Janaki Temple have also been completed. “The locals will have to get into Tirhutiya Gachhi for the civic felicitation by 9:00am tomorrow,” Luitel said.

The sub-metropolis has managed entry pass for former ministers, lawmakers, party leaders, professionals, and social organisations.

The pass holders will have chairs to sit while locals sans pass will have to stand while offering the civic felicitation to Mukherjee.

Security force,s including NA personnel had conducted mock security rehearsal for Mukherjee’s sojourn today. Security has been tightened at Janaki Temple and Tirhutiya Gachhi.

Janaki temple Mahant Ramtapeswor Das Baishnav said that the Indian president is slated to offer prayers for 25 minutes at the temple and take stock of the temple.

Following prayers at the temple, Mukherjee will head to Tirhutiya Gachhi to participate in the civic felicitation programme.

Executive officer Luitel will read out the felicitation letter written in Maithali and hand it over to Mukherjee. Maithali songs and dances will be performed to welcome the president. Mukherjee is scheduled to address the programme for ten minutes.
