Japan to provide Rs 280 million for SSDP

KATHMANDU: The Government of Japan has agreed to provide a grant assistance of Rs. 280 million to the School Sector Development Program of Nepal.

The Exchange of Notes to this effect was signed and exchanged between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Japan at the Ministry of Finance here on Tuesday.

The SSDP is a continuation of the School Sector Reform Program (SSRP) that aims to improve the quality, equitable access and efficiency of basic and secondary education in Nepal. The SSDP is being implemented by the Department of Education.

The exchange of notes was signed by Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Shanta Raj Subedi and Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa.

Similarly, Joint Secretary Baikuntha Aryal and Chief Representative of JICA Nepal Jun Sakuma signed the grant agreement and memorandum of understanding, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance.
