Jhapa students hit hard for want of secondary schools
Jhapa, January 4
Students have been deprived of education as there is not a single secondary school in southern Gherabari and Pathamari VDCs of Jhapa.
These VDCs, which adjoin the Indian border, lie in Constituency No 3 of the district.
Nepali Congress General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Rastriya Prajatantra Party General Secretary Rajendra Lingden represent the constituency in national politics.
“Many school going children drop their secondary level education upon completion of the lower secondary level due to lack of the schools for further education in and around their locality,” lamented Laxmi Narayan Yadav of Gherabari.
There are a total of four primary and a lower secondary school in the VDC, according to Yadav. Under-secretary Uddhav Bista at the DEO said that preparations were under way to launch secondary education in the VDCs.
