Joining previous governments was a mistake, says RPP Chair Thapa

Kavre, September 15

Rastriya Prajantra Party Chairman Kamal Thapa today admitted that it was a mistake of his party to join the previous governments.

Speaking at party programme organised in Dhulikhel by RPP Kavre, Thapa admitted that his party had made a mistake by joining the past governments.

“I will think four times before I join the government in future,” he stated. He said that party’s support to the past governments had spoiled the party’s image and sent negative message to the people.

Thapa expressed concern about failing to achieve expected outcome in the past elections. “We should not be lose hope after the loss, rather we should work on our weaknesses and lay solid foundation for victory in future,” he added. He claimed that his party would add 500,000 active cadres in the next five years.

Flaying the then CPN-Maoist Centre, Thapa questioned relevance of ten-year long Maoist insurgency if they had to merge with the then CPN-UML. “Now, they have to answer why 17,000 people were killed,” Thapa held.

Thapa said despite the implementation of federalism, people had failed to feel change in their lives.
