Phidim, May 29:

As a symbolic protest against the government’s ban on news broadcast by FM stations, local journalists in support of their demand for press freedom here broadcast news by ‘fixing’ a FM station — FM of the People’s Road — in the middle of the road in the district headquarters, Phidim, today.

The FM station set up by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Panchthar, broadcast the news of the journalists’ agitation for half an hour, from 2 pm.

Earlier, a rally of journalists marched through the market areas before converging at Mukhiya Sadak. The FM station broadcast news criticising the proposed anti-Press ordinance government’s recent order to shut down the Communication Corner.
