JTMM-J resumes armed struggle

Siraha, October 26:

The Jwala Singh-led Jantantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha today announced that it has resumed its armed struggle for an autonomous Madhes region after the end of the 13-day ceasefire. The group had declared a ceasefire from October 11 in view of Dashain and Tihar festivals.

Issuing a press statement, central president of the JTMM-J Jwala Singh said that now that the ceasefire period was over, his party would be resuming its militant activities and wage an armed struggle again.

The press statement also urged all political groups and armed outfits in the Madhes

region to forge a common front for the ‘liberation’ of Madhes.

The JTMM-J president also said that in view of the coming Deepawali and Chhath festivals, his party would not stage any bandhs, chakkajam or strike. He also urged cadres and activists of other groups to follow suit. However, other protest programmes of the JTMM-J would continue, he added.
