JTMM’s kidnap bid foiled

Siraha, July 7:

Locals of Anarma Prapi VDC clashed with armed cadres of the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Jwala Singh) for an hour last night and foiled the cadres’ bid to abduct a former chairperson of the VDC, Kiran BC, from his residence at Anarma Prapi-1, the Siraha district police office (DPO) said.

Police said that 20 of the 60 JTMM-Jwala Singh cadres, who arrived to abduct BC, were armed with country-made pistols.

The JTMM-J men surrounded BC’s house and began firing in the air, yelling to him to come out. Pelting the cadres with stones and wielding slingshots, the villagers rushed to BC’s rescue.

The cadres, led by the JTMM-J’s area number 2 in-charge Sanjay Mahara, fired over a hundred rounds in the air, said a local, Balram BC. However, no human casualties were reported. The JTMM-J men also tried to break open the main door of ex-chairperson BC’s house.

BC opened fire from his house. Talking to this daily, BC said he was rescued by the timely arrival and efforts of the villagers.
