Jumla offices padlocked
JUMLA: Members of civil society and different political parties padlocked all the government offices in Jumla district today demanding that the government address the special issues of the Karnali region.
Earlier, the society had submitted 12-point charter of demands to the government which comprise allocation of 25 per cent extra budget to the region, declaration of Karnali as a special region in the new constitution, provision of extra allowance to the staffers working in the region, among others.
The protesters claimed that they were compelled to padlock the government offices after the democratic government too turned out to be apathetic towards their demands.
