Juvenile court is now a reality in Hetauda
Hetauda, November 29:
The juvenile court is a reality now ... at least, in Hetauda of Makwanpur district.
Advocates Lalita Shrestha and Shankar Banjade and child psychologists Khet Raj Mainali and Anju Chaulagain have been nominated dignitaries of the juvenile court.
Mainali is currently in Qatar in course of his professional practice but he will be arriving shortly to join the bench.
District judge Uday Prakash Chapagain said that the juvenile court would ensure that the human rights of children are not violated. “The foundation for setting up the juvenile court was laid long ago. It was only a matter of time that it started,” said justice Chapagain.
He added that it took 16 years to set up a juvenile court despite the legwork. The Juvenile Act was passed in 2048 BS, he said.
Under clause 55 (2) of the Juvenile Act of 2048, the juvenile court can take all necessary action against violators of child righta, said justice Chapagain.
